|

I have a zx-24 that runs fine but when I try to download a new program to it, the downloader responds with an error that says that the zx24 is not responding to the ATN toggle. Is there anything that can be done to get the zx24 to answer the downloader?
TIA,
Paul |

It is possible that the serial driver is no longer working correctly. If you have a voltmeter you can check the voltage on pin 1 with the device on. Assuming that it is not transmitting data voltage level should be near zero. If it is negative or above 1 volt or so, the driver has failed.
Let me know what you find and we can replace it right away if it is defective. |

I would not assume the worst, yet.
When you switch on the ZX-24, does it respond at the IDE monitor window with ZBasic ...? Also recheck your RS232 connections again.
Then try testing the ATN line using the ZLOAD utility and -a flag. You may also need -c to select the PC com port (I always use COM2). See the reference manual for details here: http://www.zbasic.net/doc/ZBasicRef/ZBasicRef91.html.
If that doesn't work, do you have a spare known good device? Then you can better isolate the fault. |

Don,
Pin 1 reads +.003 to + .004 volts continuously.

I'll have another sent out right away. I'd like to get the other one back in order to diagnose the failure.
Thanks. |

It's soon on its way. Do I need an RMA number? What address should it be shipped to? The
Elba Corp.
9355 SW 166th Ave.
Beaverton, OR 97007 USA
address? I looked on the web site but I didn't see an address specifically for returns.

That address is correct, no RMA number is necessary. Just send it to my attention (Don Kinzer).
Your replacement part should be there tomorrow. |
