I have spent TOO much time at the other BasicX site. I also got confused and did a fgoogle search for XBasic (rather than BasicX) I got dozens of hits but seemed to me XBasic is used fior everything but microcontrollers.
Please How Much is the Starter kit for ZBasic 24 pin, cables software ;the lot ?
Your forum is heaps better too.
MIke.
Is this forum tollerant of newbies to elecrtonics. Parallax is very very tolerant and helps every question. |

In order to use the ZX-24a, you'll need to provide a power supply, a serial connection and a way to connect it all together. There are "Stamp-format" carrier boards available from several manufacturers that will serve nicely. Any of the Parallax carrier boards for the 24-pin Stamp devices will work and you have a choice of standard serial or USB. Some examples:
Basic Stamp 2 Carrier Board
Board of Education - Serial
Board of Education - USB
Depending on what you intend to do, however, you may be better served by buying a "solderless breadboard" and constructing your own prototyping platform.
You can find some ideas from an earlier discussion at:

You can even connect this to the USB port without a breadboard although one is needed to do anything useful other than flash a few on-board LEDs. The ZX-328nu is priced at $34.95. For an additional $2.95 you can purchase a mini-B USB cable if you don't have one already.
The ZX-328nu sister product is called the om328p. To show what can be done, this youtube video shows 16 om328p devices powered from one USB port on a single large breadboard. |

These forums are very helpful, so feel free to ask any questions.
You will find that any of the ZX series, from Elba Corp or OakMicros, are simply much better than any BasicX device. |
