I am looking for a tall header similar to the ones used on the Arduino boards to mount their shields. However, I want one of at least 14 pins and at least 0.3in high. Also, I want to be able to plug a daughter board into this connector in order to support a graphics LCD. Do such connectors exist? What do I search for? I am not sure of the names of these sort of connectors.

Any enlightenment will be appreciated.

http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=SAM1121-32-ND or similar ? These are only 0.23" above the board but most snap-apart male 0.1" headers have 0.1" above-board, too, for 0.33" board spacing.

GTBecker,

Thanks for the response.

I was going through the Samtec on-line catalog and found SSW-114-01-g-s that might work also. Do you suppose something like either SSA 0r SSW types would work. I am somewhat interested in stack on stack. possible two layers. Is that possible with these critters. Is there enough pin to pass through the board and then positively plug into the header below?

Any further enlightenment will be appreciated.

Ah, I just realized that these look like wirewrap headers - and that's what you need, I think.
