I wanted to a portable version of a ZX-24 that I could take with me anywhere. I found a scrap piece of stripboard 13 strips by 9 holes that happens to be the exact size I needed (it's true!). The result shown below is the cutest little application of a ZX-24 you ever saw Very Happy. The circuit has a protection diode (in case I accidently invert the wallwart supply), a green monitor LED, and of course a ZX-24 in a socket. Now I can connect this circuit to my laptop wherever I go.

I'm already thinking about V2 of the "PortableZX" which connects to a USB port and gets power from the USB.

It's all in the name. "Portable ZX" allows me to have a simple, very portable ZX environment away from my normal test/breadboarding setup at home. I can write code, download it and test it - at least to a limited extent.

If you notice there are 8 holes on either side of the ZX-24 that serve at the "expansion bus" so I could hook up devices, switches or LEDs.

I use it when I'm on a business trip or away from home. I find it very useful for checking out something and being able to respond quickly to questions on this forum. There is a reason that I have second highest number of appends on this forum.

Of course if you don't want me to help you with the next programming problem you have then I will leave it at home.
