The wonderful folks at Tibbo have already changed the pinout and wiring diagram for the EM500/GA1000 combo, making my shield layout obsolete. The new arrangement is shown in Fig C at...
I'm not at all clear on what the symbols between GPIO6 & GPIO7 represent.

Those are 2-input Nand gates.

Here is a small one.  There are several varieties available in the "Tiny" series.

Also, there are the 74HC2G00 and 74HCT2G00. Digi-Key has no stock on these but Mouser does. These are electrically equivalent to the 74HC and 74HCT series devices, respectively, but offer two devices per package.
